At Dr. Sonal Kapoor Physiotherapy Clinic, we care for you, we care for your thoughts, emotions and relationships… THE RESULT YOU WANT. THE CARE YOU DESERVE.

Let’s start with one basic example of cardio surgery  Bypass Surgery. Whenever any Bypass surgery  is performed, the procedure of operation is very complex. Your surgeon starts by making an incision in the middle of your chest. Your rib cage is then spread apart to expose your heart. You are then hooked up to a cardiopulmonary bypass machine and after the surgery is performed you’ll be stitched up and bandaged.

The whole procedure of this type of surgery has a very deep physical as well as mental impact so we come up with the Cardio Pulmonary Rehabilitation. It  is a process by which patients who suffered any cardiac event are helped to maintain optimal physical and psychosocial health. Cardio Pulmonary Rehabilitation programs help you rebuild your strength and endurance gradually and safely. We not only help you return to energetic life but also facilitate the the tools that enable you to stay that way.

Cardio Pulmonary Rehabilitation is done for plethora of situations. Some of which includes  Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), smoker’s lungs, Chronic OBSTRUCTIVE Pulmonary Disorders (COPD), CORD, Cystic fibrosis, bronchitis.

CABG (CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS GRAFTING):

CABG is used  to treat people who have severe coronary heart disease called CHD. CHD is a disease in which a waxy substance called plaque starts  buildings up inside the coronary arteries and gets harden with time. These arteries supply oxygen-rich blood to your heart, but because of formation of these  harden plaques coronary arteries becomes narrower and reduces the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the heart. This can cause chest pain or discomfort called angina and sometimes blood clotting  because of any ruptures in plaque leads to Heart Attack.

Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is a type of surgery that improves blood flow to the heart. CABG may work better than other types of treatmen

COPD (CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISORDER):

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. It’s caused by long-term exposure to irritating gases or particulate matter, most often from cigarette smoke. People with COPD are at increased risk of developing heart disease, lung cancer and a variety of other conditions.

RAYNAUD’S DISEASE

With smoking the blood vessels of feet and hands become very  narrow  due to which the blood supply is compromised. The compromised blood supply in smokers  leads to one very common condition called as Raynaud’s disease, or Raynaud’s phenomenon, which  is a form of vasculitis in which the arteries of the fingers or toes suddenly narrow in response to cold, causing a  the digits turn white, blue and then red. Even mild cold exposure can cause this painful reaction. Raynaud’s disease refers to vasospasm — severe, temporary narrowing of the arteries that occurs in response to cold or stress in the absence of any other medical condition.

The smokers are also at higher risks of developing deep vein thrombosis (DVT) as the blood vessels are compromised , and  the muscles are weak .

Smokers have higher tendencies of developing back pain and prolapsed intervertebral disc (PIVD) or in simple language slip disc. The disc is made up of gelatinous substance (jelly like) which acts as an shock absorber to the spine. Excessive cigarette smoking leads to drying of this substance and higher risks of developing back problems.
